Jetty is a 19 year old mini horse, who was rescued from a breeding pony farm. Due to extreme lack of care she has been diagnosed with severe coffin bone deterioration. This diagnoses is not from illness or injury but from complete lack of farrier care from her previous owner.  We cannot heal her condition, however with proper farrier care, we can slow the process of deterioration.  Jetty is a special case for our rescue.  She is a normal healthy mini horse on all other levels.  Because she is otherwise a healthy equine, we have chosen to offer her a sanctuary home so she can spend the remainder of her days being cared for and loved unconditionally.  Jetty has the sweetest demeanor of all the equines on our farm.  She brings joy and  happiness to children and adult visitors on a daily basis.  Jetty is in need of sponsorship to allow us to continue with the care she needs.

Apollo is a 6 year old Mustang from Nevada.  Apollo was living the life as a wild free mustang when the BLM went after his heard to round them up and auction them off.  Apollo did not handle the round up well and became very unsocial.  Because of this he was shipped to multiple auctions without success of becoming adopted.  At his third and final auction, we came upon him in what was called a third strike bin.  This meant that he was now available for adoption for only $25.  Seeing him coward in the corner with a look of brokenness on his face, we immediately knew we had to rescue him.  There was a little disturbance between ourselves and a kill buyer...WE WON!  There was no way we could allow this boy to be shipped to slaughter and home to Free Spirit he came.

He was angry and hurt, discouraged and sad and wanted nothing to do with a human.  We built him a special stall that would hold him and until he would allow us to make contact with him he had to stay stalled.  This took several months.  We gently forced ourselves into his life and within a few weeks he was eating out of our hands.  We were able to start spending time in the stall with him and reassuring him that not all humans were bad.  At night time we would put a horse (Blaze) into the stall next to him to keep him company at night time.  These two boys became very close.  The day finally came when Apollo was able to come out of his stall and join Blaze in a paddock where they could bond and become buddies.  Apollo was very excited to be free again.  It took an hour to coax him out of his stall as he was not then nor now a rule breaker.  Once we coaxed him out of the stall and he realized he was free, off he ran...right through the fence to get to Blaze.  The repairs began.  We quickly repaired the fence and turned the power on to the electric fencing.  Blaze knew Apollo was scared and ran with him to outline the perimeter of the fencing.  This lasted for about 15 minutes and then it was quite.  Apollo quickly figured out his paddock dimensions and has never touched another fence.

Today Apollo is the heard Alpha and is respectful, friendly, loving and gentle.  Because of his rough start in the human world we could not bare the thought of shipping him to another home.  Free Spirit has decided this is the best home for him and he will remain a sanctuary horse for our farm.  Apollo has grown into a trusting equine that adores children.  He is the perfect example of never give up, show them love, treat them with respect and they will give you all of that back plus more in return.  Apollo is in need of a sponsor and will continue his training as we will eventually move him into our therapy program because of his gentleness.

Dream is a thoroughbred who was placed on the race track to young. At two years old before her growth plates had closed, her racing owner made the decision to push her too early. This resulted in her being severely injured, suffering from bone fragments, cartilage and tendon damage. After this injury her only chance for survival required surgery to perform a partial carpal arthrodesis, in layman terms, a knee replacement. This surgery cost almost $9,000, with the help from numerous donors and organizations her story traveled around the world and we were able to save Dream. However her expenses have far exceeded what we have raised. She requires daily care, weekly vet care, and six months of stall rehabilitation. Following these steps she will require an additional six months of therapy rehabilitation. After a year of her rehab, prognosis looks great for a full  recovery. Dream's story is one that brings awareness to horses being raced to young. Many of them suffer the same injuries and are not as lucky to have so many people fight for them they way they did for Dream.  Be a part of our #DreamTeam today.
